Hey Brian, thanks for the comment. I have indeed wanted to further talk through the tools and processes I use, I just haven't really had the time or the energy yet. I've also been in process of developing some of those tools, better honing in my workflow, etc. If you have any direct questions, feel free to email me at info@kurtaschliman.com. Thanks!

Kurt,

I've enjoyed browsing through your articles. I found it by googleing "christian music road managers". I have a friend with an established and award winning Southern Gospel band that is taking a new direction with a new name in CCM. The final production details are being ironed out and release of the new cd is scheduled for August.

He has asked me to be his road manager, sound guy & the 'something different' in the performance by singing a set. Studio work on the next album and more stage time following. I haven't given him an answer yet.

The problem is, I don't have a clue about road managing. You had mentioned "In a future post I will detail out my processes for advancing and the tools I use to make my life easier and more streamlined." A quick search couldn't find the mention information.

I hope you can point me in the direction of knowledge or practical experience. My passion is music but by trade I'm an systems engineer.

Thanks, I look forward to a response.

A wise friend of mine always says "Leadership happens in the cracks" meaning simply that we're not able to plan teachable moments...but we can be present in those "cracks of time." I'm honored to have been in this "crack" of time....probably more literally stuck in various cracks, trenches, holes, and whatever else my bike would have fit into!! What a day....remember that we got lost too that day, we were almost back to our campsite and had to flag a minivan down to lead us home....fun times!

I enjoyed reading this post. I just finished a study on Psalm 126 on joy. I thought this idea from Eugene Peterson was interesting, true, and heartbreaking. "a common but futile strategy for achieving joy is trying to eliminate things that hurt: grt rid of pain by numbing the nerve ends, get rid of insecurity by eliminating risks, get rid of disappointment by depersonalizing your relationships. And then try to lighten the boredom of such a life by buying joy in the form of vacations and entertainment." Can you imagine what life would be like if we did trust God more, took risks in our life and in our relationships to bring them to a deeper level. The risk is getting hurt but the reward would be forming an unbreakable bond and discovering more of who we are and what God can do.
